MIKSMIKS Privacy Policy

Last updated: 16 September 2026

MIKSMIKS is provided by Tõnis Malkov. For privacy questions, contact hello@miksmiks.com.

Audio analysis

MIKSMIKS uses microphone or compatible audio-input access when you start listening to estimate tempo and musical key. This analysis takes place on your device. The analysis feature does not upload microphone recordings to the publisher.

A listening session that you start can continue while your iPhone is locked. Tap Stop in MIKSMIKS to end it. Dismissing a Live Activity does not stop microphone capture. You can revoke microphone permission in iOS Settings.

The app also includes optional music identification using Apple's ShazamKit. When this service is available and you request identification, ShazamKit matches an acoustic signature against Apple's catalogue. Apple states that ShazamKit does not share the original audio with Apple and that signatures cannot be converted back into the original recording. Apple's handling of its service is described in its privacy information: https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/.

Your collection and photos

Records, track information, notes, folders, wishlist entries, saved analysis results, setlists and training progress are stored locally by the app. MIKSMIKS does not provide a publisher-operated collection-sync server.

If you take or choose a record photo, the app can store a local copy. Text recognition on labels and sleeves runs on-device. If you use recognised text to search Discogs, the search text is sent to Discogs; the photo is not uploaded by that search feature.

The app keeps local recovery copies of library data. Removing an item from the current library may not immediately remove it from those recovery copies. System backups and copies you export or share are managed separately from the current in-app library.

Discogs and online record information

If you use Discogs search, release lookup, tracklist retrieval or artwork downloads, MIKSMIKS sends requests to Discogs and the relevant image-hosting services. Depending on the feature, requests include search terms or release identifiers. If you provide a Discogs personal access token, the app stores it locally and includes it in authenticated Discogs requests.

These services also receive ordinary connection information, including your IP address. Discogs describes its handling of information from its services, including its API, in its privacy policy: https://support.discogs.com/hc/en-us/articles/360009334513-Privacy-Policy.

You can use manual collection entry without a Discogs token. You can remove the token in MIKSMIKS Settings and revoke it through your Discogs account.

Purchases

The optional set-tools purchase is processed through Apple's App Store. The app uses StoreKit to check purchase status and restore eligible purchases. The publisher does not receive your payment-card details through this implementation. Apple processes purchase information under its own privacy policy.

Links and sharing

If you open a search or other link to YouTube, Discogs, Bandcamp or another external destination, that website or app handles the resulting visit under its own privacy practices. Search links can contain the artist or track search terms you choose to look up.

If you choose to share a setlist, exported file or audio diagnostics report, the selected destination receives the content you share. Audio diagnostics describe audio routes, settings and levels, including device-provided route names; they are not microphone recordings. Review the content before sharing it.

Analytics and advertising

MIKSMIKS does not integrate advertising networks or a third-party analytics SDK. This does not mean external services receive no information: the Discogs requests, optional identification, purchases and links described above have their own data flows.

Managing your information

You can edit or remove collection items using the app, remove your Discogs token, and manage microphone and camera access in iOS Settings. Local recovery copies, system backups, exported files and information held by external services may need to be managed separately.

Contacting support

If you email hello@miksmiks.com, we receive your email address, message and any attachments you send. We use this information to respond to your enquiry and provide support. Please do not send passwords, Discogs access tokens or payment-card details.

We keep support correspondence only as long as needed to handle your enquiry and meet applicable record-keeping obligations. You can contact the same address to ask about information you have sent us or request its deletion.

Privacy requests

For questions, corrections or deletion requests concerning information held by the publisher, email hello@miksmiks.com. The publisher does not have remote access to your locally stored library. Requests about information held by Discogs, Apple or another external service can also be directed to that service using its published privacy contacts.

Changes

The publisher may update this policy when the app's features or data practices change. The published policy will show its revision date.
